Harvard Business Review

Today, I am pumped to share the article I wrote for the Harvard Business Review on the ways that virtually any type and sized business can start to implement voice into their overall business strategy. Smart speakers are currently the most prevalent hardware for businesses to engage their customers through. 26.2% of American adults have a smart speaker – 66.4 million people – and nearly 30 million people uses their smart speaker daily. This is the beginning of a new era in computing and we’ve never seen a consumer device more rapidly adopted than what we’re seeing with smart speakers.

Here’s the thing – smart speakers and our phones are just the start in terms of the hardware we use to interact with our smart assistants.  As the consumer behavior and ways that people interact with their technology progressively moves toward having our smart assistants “unburden” us by alleviating us of the friction of digging and tapping through our phones, so too will we want our smart assistants more readily available. That’s why we’ll see Alexa and all her friends move from the home & phone, into our cars, hospitals, offices, classrooms, hotels, and yes, our mini ear-computers.
